Barbara Ann Burleigh, 80 of Lake Charles, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 28, 1935 in Church Point, LA to Berchman and Ella Blanchard Duplechin. She married James Burleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Dennis Burleigh; one grandchild; and two brothers, Charles and James Duplechin.
Surviving is her husband; six daughters; brother; four sisters; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Barbara was a CCD teacher and was a choir member at St. Henry's Catholic Church. She was a tax preparer for H&R Block and a polling commissioner. Barbara enjoyed cooking, reading, quilting, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm with a rosary at 6:30pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 9:00 am until time of service. A funeral will be Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 10am at the funeral home. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
