Marvin W. Dunnam, 59, of Beaumont died April 3, 2008 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Born in Alvin, Texas, he was a resident of Beaumont most of his life. Marvin spent 25 years in the elevator trade before founding Kitchen Koncepts. He served in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army during Vietnam. He was an avid and accomplished elk hunter and a fan of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and scouting. Marvin was a board member of Beaumont Rotary Club and Anayat House and a member of Westgate Memorial Baptist Church. Marvin lived an extremely rich life, and loved those around him deeply.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Dunnam of Beaumont; son, Kelvin Dunnam and daughter-in-law, Christy of Baytown; sisters, Laverne Tankersley of Alvin and Joyce Jones and her husband Clyde of Winnie; brothers, Kelly Dunnam and his wife Brenda of Vidor, Tommy Dunnam and his wife Carol and Gene Dunnam all of Fannett, Glen Dunnam and his wife Patsy of North Carolina, and Douglas Dunnam of Beaumont; uncle, Tom Elkin and his wife Char of Alvin; grandchildren, Priscilla Dunnam, Andrew Dunnam, Carleigh Dunnam, Luke Wilson Dunnam, and Emma Dunnam; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members. Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Leigh; parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Dunnam; and brother, James Dunnam.
Pallbearers will be Texas Ranger David Maxwell, Dr. Mark Wilson, Rick Strause, Johnny Passmore, Terry Whidden, and Randy Ressler. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh McGown, Danny Marek, Jennings Ewing, and Frank Inzer.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Garth Road, Baytown. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday evening, April 7, 2008, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Broussard's.
In lieu of flowers a college scholarship fund has been established for Priscilla and Andrew Dunnam at NFS, LLC, 1150 North 11th Street, Beaumont, Texas, 77702. Memorial contributions may also be made to the American Cancer Society.
