Hannah Elizabeth Dunn Armstrong, the daughter of Moses Dunn and Mahala Wilson, was born on May 15, 1843 in Grayson County, Kentucky. She was the first wife of Isaac Henry "Ike" Armstrong, the son of Joshua Armstrong and Amanda Lawell. He was born on September 4, 1842 in Grayson County, Kentucky. During the Civil War he served the Union from March 21 1862 to March 29, 1865 in Company A of the 27th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 23rd Corps, Army of the Ohio.

Isaac H. Armstrong and Hannah E. Dunn were married in Grayson County on January 25, 1866. At the time of the 1880 Census of Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky the family of Isaac H. Armstrong consisted of: I. H., a farmer, age 37, his wife Hannah, a house keeper, age 37; and their sons: George W., age 13 (b. 25 Jan 1867); and Henry P., age 12 (b. 22 Mar 1868).

Hannah E. Armstrong died on May 7, 1885 in Grayson County. She was buried with her parents in the Dunn Cemetery on the Ray Ramsey farm (1990) in Grayson County. Sometime after her death Isaac married second wife Nannie Allen Kirkland.
