Mrs. Ella Dunn was born January 31, 1901 at Dingle. The daughter of William and Elizabeth Dayton Quayle, she attended the Dingle elementary school and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1919. She and Mr. Dunn were married June 14, 1922 in the LDS Temple at Salt Lake City.

An active member of the LDS Church, Mrs. Dunn was president of the First Ward Relief Society for 10 years and also a member of the Montpelier Stake Relief Society presidency. Mrs. Dunn belonged to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was a former president of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Besides her husband, retired Montpelier postmaster, she is survived by a daughter and two sons, Joyce D. Johnson, MD, wife of Owen Johnson of Salt Lake City, Alan Dale Dunn, an officer of Simplot Phosphate Division, Pocatello, and Richard Q. Dunn, DDS, of Phoenix, Arizona; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Norma) Erickson of Tremonton, Mrs. Moretta Wilcox of Dingle and Mrs. Janette Humburg of Montpelier.
Funeral services for Ella Q. Dunn, 71, who died last Thursday, a resident of Montpelier for 50 years and wife of J. Vern Dunn, were at 1 p.m. Monday in the Montpelier LDS Third-Fifth Ward Chapel. Bishop Walter Dimond of the First Ward conducted.

The family prayer was offered by Sidney Follick, and the prelude and postlude music was played by Mrs. Royal Clark. Following the obituary by Bishop Dimond was a vocal selection by a male quartet, Philip Hulme, James Olsen, John Taggart and Dr. Paul Daines; invocation, Bishop Arthur Erickson; remarks, Bishop Val M. Rich; vocal duet, “Beautiful Land,” Max Haddock and Mrs. Eugene Wilcox; remarks, President David H. Jensen; song, “Abide With Me ‘Tis Eventide,” quartet; benediction, Lewis Munk.

Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery where Bishop Cecil Dunn gave the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Stephen Dunn, Randy Dunn, Michael Dunn, Jeffrey Johnson, Mervin and William Erickson.
