Joy Elaine Bingham, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 11, 2011, passing peacefully in her sleep. She was born on December 11, 1926 in Houston, Texas to parents, Marvin Joseph Dunlap, Sr. and Mable Lee Canterbury Dunlap. Joy was laid to rest at a private family graveside service on June 14, 2011 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Joy met Jack Bingham, a sailor in the South African Navy while his ship was in Houston during World War II. They were later married in 1946. Joy and Jack had 4 children and celebrated 57 years of marriage together. One of Joy's pastimes was gardening and growing the most beautiful roses and flowers. She also enjoyed cooking for family get-togethers and making Jack's favorite, curry. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bingham; grandson, Jake Costa and brother, M.J. "Bud" Dunlap, Jr. She is survived by son, Steve Bingham and wife Sandy; grandsons, Steve Bingham Jr. and Will Bingham; daughter, Suzanne Jacobson and husband Bill; grandsons, Adam Sturdevant and Todd Sturdevant; daughter, Janet Costa and husband Scott; son, Brad Bingham and wife Mellissa and grandson Jared. She will be deeply missed by her family.
