Andrew Jackson Dunham was born to John and Prudence Dunham on March 17, 1864 in Warren, Pennsylvania, and passed away in Wichita, Kansas hospital on January 6, 1936 at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 30 days.

In 1867 he came with his parents to Kansas and settled on a farm near Frankfort, Kansas. On May 4, 1885, “Jack” was married to Fannie Few. To this union was born four sons and two daughters. A large portion of their married life, they lived in the Bigelow community. In 1889 Mr. Dunham became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Bigelow. About 1920, the Dunham’s moved to Piedmont, Kansas and continued farming. Four years later they moved to Beaumont, Kansas a few miles away and built an oil service station.

Two weeks ago Mr. Dunham became bed-fast and was moved to a Wichita hospital. He had been unconscious the last two days.

Mr. Dunham was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Gladys and a son Thomas Jackson, whose funeral service was held in this church on September 17, 1935.

Survivors include a brother, Frank Dunham Yale, Oklahoma; his wife and son Minor, Beaumont, Kansas, two sons, Frank and Truman, Blue Rapids, Kansas; a daughter, Mrs. C.L. Roesner, Manhattan, Kansas; six grandchildren, one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held in the Bigelow Methodist Episcopal church on Sunday afternoon, January 19, 1936 with the Reverend James B. Wright officiating.

Burial was in the LaGrange Cemetery, Mount Hope, south of Frankfort, Kansas

Pallbearers were Eli McNeily, Perry Wells, Tom Rinehart, Robert Millgate, Will Shubkagel and Rex Colton.
