Services will be held at: 10:30 AM Saturday, June 3, 2006, at St. Henry's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation times are: 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Pursel-Davis Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will greet friends. There will be a public vigil service at 7 P.M. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Dwight Lewis Dungy was born on March 12, 1922 in Blockton, Iowa, the son of James Isaac and Mary Olive Johnson Dungy. His early years were spent in Blockton, Iowa and Hardy, Arkansas. Dwight attended school in Grandview, Missouri. He and his eight brothers had numerous adventures and escapades with many turning into stories which delighted everyone and brought laughter to all. In March of 1939, Dwight entered the Civil Conservation Corp in Oregon where he worked for two years. In November of 1942 he joined the United States Army and served until February of 1946 as a M.P. Dwight and his brothers were the largest family contingency serving in the military at the same time during World War Two. After his military service, Dwight began employment at Fisher Controls in Marshalltown. He worked in various departments, ending his career in a supervisory position. On September 5, 1944, Dwight was united in marriage to Angeline Schutz of Salina, Kansas. To this union five children were born: Janice, Larry, Michael, Steven and Teresa. Dwight's great loves included his family, fishing, and playing a hard fought game of cards. Dwight is survived by his wife: Angeline M. Dungy of Marshalltown; children: Janice (Tom) Leeds of Racine Wisconsin, Larry (Jeannie) Dungy of Altoona, Michael (Sandy) Dungy of Winona, Minnesota, Steven (Nancy) Dungy of Cannon Falls, Minnesota and Teresa (Joseph) Burke of Clive; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; and a brother: Dale Dungy of San Jose, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Erling, William, Robert, Drexal (his twin), Elbert, Eldon & Jesse.
