ANNA V. "ANNIE" (DUNBAR) CARROLL, 85, of Derby, Kansas, passed away Monday night, May 17, 2010 at her home.
Born July 27, 1924 in Burns, Kansas, she was the daughter of John and Margaret (Cundell) Dunbar. She was raised and received her education in Winfield.
As a young girl, Annie worked for Seymore Packaging Company. She took a job as fry cook and waitress for Rex Morton Café, where she worked for about 12 years. She then went to work at Gott Manufacturing. Annie was the first woman employee at Gott and remained there as a supervisor and inspector for over 25 years until retiring in 1989. After her retirement Annie went to work part-time for Boogaarts (Winfield Apple Market) Deli & Bakery.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, as well as a member of The American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary of Winfield. Annie enjoyed reading and being with friends, of which she had many.

Dunbar of El Dorado; Her grandson: David Lazelle and Amanda of Winfield; Raymond Sumrall of Derby; Tony Aguilar of Delaware; Kenneth Aguilar of Moberly, MO; Chris Bruster and Sheri of Wellington; Her granddaughter: Phoebe Bruster of Derby; Angela Farmer of Owensville, MO; Her great-grandchildren: Piper Ann Lazelle and Montana Cox of Winfield; Jessica Adams of Owensville, MO; Jordan Aguilar of Rolla, MO; Tiffany Wyrick of Owensville, MO; Emely Farmer Owensville, MO; Gabriel Farmer of Owensville, MO; Maddox James Lazelle and Roland Cox of Winfield; Ayden Bruster of Wellington; Her special friend and caregiver: Shara Feyen of Derby; and Her many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husbands Hershel Pryor, Carl Olsen Jr., and Lewis Adams, her sister, Rachel Hillig, her brother, Cyrus Dunbar, her brother-in-law Charles "Bud" Hull, her sister-in-law Mamie Dunbar, and her best friends of over thirty years, Joe and June Gilkison.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8PM. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Annie's name for the Winfield VFW Auxiliary. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
