PROCTOR - Laura C. Dumas, 90, of Proctor, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at the home of her son in Rutland.
She was born in Proctor on May 30, 1921, the daughter of Ruggerio and Norina (Campana) Canapa who had emigrated from Carrara, Italy, to Proctor.
Laura was a lifelong resident of Proctor. She was employed for many years at Vermont Marble Co.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and her grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Roger Dumas and his wife Mary Jean of Rutland; her sister, Josephine Canapa of Proctor; two grandchildren, Kevin Dumas of Boston, Mass., and Laura Dumas of Somerville, Mass. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Archible Dumas of Center Rutland; by three sisters, Florence Wallett of Proctor, Albina Boni of Rutland and Lena Canapa of Proctor; and by two brothers, Robert Canapa of Enfield, Conn., and Bernard Canapa of Proctor.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in Rutland. Officiating will be the Rev. Justin Baker, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Dominic's Cemetery in Proctor.
