SWANSEA – Albert J. Dumais, 84, of Old Warren Road, Swansea, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Country Gardens Nursing Home in Swansea. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Edmund & Collette (Gagnon) Dumais, he was the husband of Noella F. (Brodeur) Dumais.
Mr. Dumais was employed as a union electrician for IBEW Local 437 of Fall River for over fifty years before retiring in 1985. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving during WWII as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class. A Swansea resident since 1970, coming from Tiverton, RI, where he lived for over twenty years, Albert was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church, Swansea, a member of the Fr. Boehr Council of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion of Swansea, and the VFW of Tiverton.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert A. Dumais of Swansea and Ronald A. Dumais of Fall River; two daughters, Janine Lang of Somerset and Diane Connors of East Providence, RI; a brother, Roger Dumais of San Diegom California; and a sister, Lucille Lachapelle of Vacaville, California. He was the grandfather of nine and the great-grandfather of three; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Normand Dumais and the late Estelle Fusco.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 9:30am in THE HATHAWAY COMMUNITY HOME FOR FUNERALS, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, MA, with burial to follow at 11:15am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
