Peggy "Mary Eleanor" Dukes Brooks, 83, of Bowling Green, died July 9, 2011, after a lengthy illness.
The Nortonville native was born Nov. 3, 1927. She graduated from College High School in Bowling Green in 1945 and attended Western Kentucky State Teachers College. She was a member of First Christian Church in Bowling Green for more than 60 years and of the Warren County Medical Auxiliary, The Current Topic Literary Club and P.E.O. She was well-known for her love of home and gifted cooking ability. In her early years, she was remembered for a beautiful voice and sang in the church choir. She was active in the ladies church circle. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a daughter of the late Garland R. and Mary E. Dukes.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Monday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery No. 2. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Carroll C. Brooks, M.D.; two daughters, Deborah Brooks Ford of Key West, Fla., and Amy Brooks Cooper and her husband, Peter, of Wilmore; a son, Kevin C. Brooks and his wife, Gail, of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, John Riggs Fulmer, Christopher Clark Brooks, Emily Brooks Mills, William Peter Cooper, Joseph Robert Cooper and Samuel Clark Cooper; and a great-grandchild, Aidan River Fulmer.
