ADAM J. DUDA, 82
November 14, 1922 - July 20, 2005

Mr. Adam J. Duda, 82, of 116 David Court, La Porte, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at 3:15 a.m. at La Porte Hospital after a two-year illness.

He was born November 14, 1922 in Chicago to Joseph and Pauline (Jarosz) Duda, and had lived in La Porte for most of his life.

Mr. Duda retired from Allis-Chalmers after 36 years as a crane operator. He also farmed, and had also been employed by La Porte Lumber and Coal Co. and had worked for Floyd Miller Apartments/Builders as a maintenance worker and groundskeeper.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Holy Name Society and PNA, and was a volunteer at La Porte Hospital for the Stroke Victim Support Group. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater, and received the World War II Victory Medal and three Bronze Stars.

On June 10, 1950 in South Bend, he married Agnes J. Kosior, who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Mary (Dennis) Wozniak of Rolling Prairie and Jeannette (Michael) Filip and Teresa (Terry) Winn, both of La Porte; one son, Joseph (Penny) of Mill Creek; six grandchildren, Leah Anderson, Paul Wozniak, Lana Wooden, Jacquelyn Reed, and Adam and Austin Duda; one stepgrandchild, Amber Winn; two great-grandsons; and two brothers, Paul and Edward, both of the Chicago area.

His parents; one stepson, Stanley Kosior; one sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Porte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Friends may call at Essling Funeral Home, La Porte, Friday from 3 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, with a military graveside honor service.
