Obituary of Elsie Duckworth Campbell
Mrs. Elsie Duckworth Campbell was born on May 22, 1935 in Collins, MS. She departed this life on September, 2, 2002, at the age of 67 in Gulfport, MS.
After living in Detroit, MI, for many years, Mrs. Campbell moved to Gulfport, where she was a devoted worker for the Harrison County Family Court for 23 years and a member of Olivet Baptist Church.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maxie and Licy Duckworth, one son, Buren Cooper Jr., and three brothers, Jermar Duckworth, Willie Duckworth and M.C. Duckworth.
She is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Ester Lee Jourdan of Hattiesburg, MS, Mrs. Mary Lee Keyes of Mt. Olive, MS, Mrs. Gurthia Mae Booth of Bay Springs, MS, and Mrs. Sally Blackwell and Mrs. Winnie R. Neely of Gulfport; one son, Larry (Carolyn) Duckworth Sr. of Gulfport; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara (Danny) Keyes of Mt. Olive, MS, Ms. Emeline Duckworth of Gulfport, Mrs. Cindy (Robert) Blake of Baltimore, MD, Ms. Wynesta Cooper of Gulfport; and two adopted daughters, Victoria Spencer and Veronica Campbell of Gulfport; a special nephew, Mr. Jessie Duckworth of Gulfport; four grandsons, Latron Duckworth, Larry Duckworth Jr., Michael Duckworth of Gulfport and Corbin Blake of Baltimore, MD; two granddaughters, Ann Duckworth and Jessica Duckworth of Gulfport; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Services will be Friday, September 6, 2002, at Olivet Baptist Church in Orange Grove at 11924 Klein Road at 1 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
House of Richmond in Gulfport is in charge of arrangements.
