ALBURGH / ST. ALBANS - Evelyn I. Benjamin, age 85 years, a longtime resident of the Alburgh community, died late Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2008, after a long period of failing health in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
Evelyn was born in Ste Armand Quebec, Canada, March 26, 1922, the daughter of the Late Arthur and Lulu (Deline) Ducharme. She attended schools in Canada and on Sept. 26, 1942, married Fernand Benjamin, who predeceased her on Aug. 5, 1992.
She leaves two daughters, Penny Benjamin and her finance, Floyd Knapp and Lynn Martin, all of Alburgh; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Evelyn leaves a brother, Billy Ducharme, of Bedford, Quebec Canada.
In addition to her husband, Evelyn was predeceased by daughter, Judy Hoffman; and two sons, Larry Benjamin and David Benjamin. She was also predeceased by a brother and a sister.
In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the Benjamin Family in St. Amadeus Cemetery.
