Denise Ann Duane Davis, age 61, of Lithonia, GA, died suddenly on November 10, 2012 at a local hospital. Denise was the beloved wife of Byron Steven Davis and loving mother of Melissa Davis Lerch of Mobile, AL, and the late Lt. William (Bill) Steven Davis, USN. Denise was born in Charleston, SC, to the late William Martin Duane and Mildred Porter Duane. Four sisters, Michele Duane Kelly of Annapolis, MD, Patricia Ann Duane of Charleston, SC, Sylvia Duane Molley of Orange Park, FL, and Rebecca Duane McIntosh of Ocala, FL, and three brothers, Martin Joseph Duane and John Walter Duane both of Charleston, SC, and Christopher Charles Duane of Charlotte, NC, survive her. She was also the sister of the late William Martin Duane II.
Denise was a cheerleader and graduate of Bishop England High School in Charleston, SC, and earned her BA in Psychology from Sacred Heart College in Belmont, NC. She had a lengthy career with Bell South starting as a telephone operator during her high school and college years and also served as a public school teacher in Florida. Denise was an active volunteer in her community spending many years promoting Catholic education. A devout Catholic, Denise was a very kind and caring person loved by her many family members and friends.
