Eleanor M. (Driscoll) Burr of Weymouth, raised in Braintree, passed away at home on Aug. 12, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late George W. "Red" Burr Jr. Loving mother of John D. Burr and his wife Connie of Brockton, Elaine F. Lane and her husband Jack of Weymouth, George W. Burr, III and his husband Michael of Brockton, and Patricia A. DeVito and her husband Stephen of Brockton. Sister of the late James H. Driscoll. Cousin of Mary, Helen, and Leo Callahan. Also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Eleanor enjoyed playing Bingo, bowling, and knitting. As a member of the Braintree DAV Wives Group, she knitted countless lap blankets for disabled veterans. She was an avid fan of both the Red Sox and the Bruins. Most of all, Eleanor found great joy in spending time with her family. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, South Weymouth at 809 Main St., (Rte. 18 opp. South Shore Hosptial), Weymouth. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. Donations in memory of Eleanor may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
