Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, William Allen Drews, 85, of Osburn, Idaho passed away July 10, 2013 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. He was born July 17, 1927 at Missoula, Montana; Bill was the son of Carl and Leona (Stoll) Drews.
Bill attended schools in Osburn and Wallace; he graduated from the Our Lady Of Lourdes Academy of Wallace in 1945. Following graduation, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged as Seaman First Class. After leaving the Navy, Bill attended the North Idaho College of Coeur d' Alene and studied watch-making.
Bill married Elaine Starke on August 22, 1953 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace. In August, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Bill had first worked for the Coeur d' Alene Hardware Company of Wallace, he then served as time keeper and warehouseman for the Hecla Mining Company and ASARCO.
In his younger years, Bill was a member of the Wallace Elks #331 and a member of the Osburn Lions Club; he was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Wallace.
Bill was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very proud of his family and they were always first in his heart. Bill was an avid fisherman; his greatest joy was fishing with his son mark and wife Elaine on the St. Joe River. He also enjoyed skiing and backpacking for many years with Mark and Elaine.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-nine years Elaine Drews of the family home of Osburn; five grandchildren Matthew (Bryn) Drews of Kellogg, Casey Drews of Moscow, Idaho, Clancy Drews of Absarokee, Montana, Billy (Marie) Smith of San Diego, California and Justin Smith of Orofino, Idaho; five great-grandchildren Quinlan Conley, Margot Drews, Atticus Drews, Samantha Smith and Lexi Jo Smith. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark Drews and one brother John Drews.
