Phyllis A. Hallgarth, 73, of Madison, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Thornton Terrace in Hanover.
She was born Aug. 27, 1935, in Brooksburg, the daughter of Nathan and Kathryn Alexander Drennen. She worked in retail sales all of her career and had been employed by Hertz Shoe Store, Northside Liquor, the former Lodge Hardware and the former Schultz Brothers Shoe Store. She enjoyed helping others, traveling and going on trips to Gatlinburg, Tenn. She also enjoyed Joel Olsteen on TV, listening to gospel music and living near the Ohio River.
She is survived by three daughters, Paula Potter of Madison, Melinda Klopp of Hanover and Debra Rucker of Aurora; two sons, Buck Hallgarth and Jon Hallgarth, both of Madison; her stepmother, Virginia Drennen of Madison; three sisters, Janet Drennen, Jean Helton and Penny Wells, all of Madison; her companion, Marvin Fallis of Madison; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Audrey Perry; and one brother, Tim Drennen.
A memorial service was at Lytle Funeral Chapel.
