Evelyn Dechant, 81, Hays, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at Via Christi Hospital, Wichita. She was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Hays to Alex P. and Anna C. Dreiling. She was a certified nurse's assistant for 30 years.
Survivors include five sons, Darrell Dechant and wife, Beth, Michael Dechant and Rochelle, Paul Dechant and wife, Kim, James Dechant and wife, Brenda, and Gary Dechant; two daughters, Cynthia Goodrick and husband, Nathan, and Deborah Windell and husband, Randall; two brothers, Lawrence Dreiling and Gilbert "Shorty" Dreiling; and two sisters, Lillian Dinkel and Genevive Lieker; 12 grandchildren, Erin, Victor, Travis, Andrea, Christopher, Amanda, Paulia, Anna, Keegan, Jacob, Garrett and Alec; and five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Sydney, Emma, Calib and Lucy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Celestine Dreiling, Barbara Dreiling, Benedict Dreiling, Celestina "Sally" Braun, Gilbert Dreiling and Martin Dreiling.
