MRS JESSIE LEE DRAWDY BOWERS
Varnville -- Mrs Jessie Lee Bowers, 70, died Monday in Hampton General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Wedneday in the chapel at Peeples Funeral Service, Inc in Hampton by the Rev W J Swindell. Burial will be in Varnville Cemetery.
Mrs Bowers was born in Colleton County, the daughter of the late Albert and Laney Kinsey Drawdy.
Surviving are three sons, Norman Drawdy of Varnville, James E Bowers of Conway, and Walter Bowers of W Jefferson, NC; three daughters, Mrs Veda Bowers Cook and Miss Ernestine Bowers of Varnville and Mrs Nick Hamilton of Hampton; one half brother, Nathan Sanford of Varnville and two half-sisters, Mrs William Crews and Mrs Shelly Jarrell of Varnville.

Jessie was actually the daughter of her oldest 'sister,' Laura Drawdy, and Norman John Drawdy was her son, not her brother. She lived with her grandparents, Albert and Laney Drawdy-she does not appear to have lived in her mother's household on any census. Similarly, her son Norman John Drawdy was raised by her brother Harvey Drawdy.
