Edna Sophie (Kangas) Draskovich, 92, of Hibbing, MN passed away Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the University Medical Center in Hibbing. She was born on May 9th, 1918 in Zim, MN to Charles and Siiri (Hukulainen) Kangas.

She attended school at the family home in Zim and Eveleth and at the Owatonna State School. While raising her children she worked as a housekeeper and an aide for the elderly. She also worked as a baker's assistant in the early years. Edna enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking, crossword puzzles, scrabble and reading, crocheting and a great blueberry patch. She was a loving, caring, thoughtful, generous woman. Her kitchen welcomed friends and family with her baked goods and delicious meals.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: John Sersha and Joseph Draskovich; mother, Siiri Maline; father, Charles Kangas; brothers, Axel, George, and Salo; sisters, Jane, Lillian, Mary Ann, Sara and two infant siblings; half sister and brother, Elma and Andrew; and half sister, Lila.

Edna is survived by her children: Helen Draskovich, Edward (Paula) Draskovich, and Kenneth Sersha; eight grandchildren: Melissa, Wendy, Tammy, Samantha, Stephanie, Tina, Barbara and Lisa; sister: Irja; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
