Services for Mrs. Harpole were held October 1
Last rites for Mrs. Johnye Drane Harpole were held Sunday, October 1st at 2:30 p.m. from the chapel of Lee Funeral Home with Rev. John W. Green officiating. Mrs. Harpole passed away Sept. 30th at the North Mississippi Retirement Home in Grenada after a long illness of 19 months. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Harpole was a life-long resident of Montgomery County. Born March 12, 1887, she was the daughter of the late Alice Booth and John H. Drane. In 1907 she was married to the late M. V. Harpole.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winona and very active in the community and will be long remembered, having served as hostess for the City of Winona at the Community House for a number of years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Jewel W. Bowen and Mrs. Sara H. Brannon, both of Winona; one son, Lt. Col. Van Harpole, St. Louis, Mo., one granddaughter, Miss Sue Beth Brannon, Belhaven College; and two sisters, Mrs. L. D. Bondurant, Marion, Va.; and Mrs. J L. Taylor, Washington, D.C.
Pallbearers were Claude Wilkes, Billy Scruggs, Spence Townsend, Dillard Woods, Pete Whitehead and Alton Gray.
