Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Drake that their son, Sergt. Harold M.Drake has died of the wounds which he received some time ago while in action. His injuries were received while fighting on the Verdun front. Sgt. Drake and Sgt. Crichton, also of this city, were struck by pieces of the same shell. Drake was severly wounded, while Crichton was killed instantly.
Drake entered the service in May 1916. At that time, he enlisted in Company D of the old second Regiment, National Guards. After this country entered, he was sent to Camp McClennan with that detachment. While at Anniston he was transferred to Company E of the 113th regiment. Before his enlistment, he was employed by Armour and Company and was member of the First Methodist Sunday School.
