Alan O. Draheim, age 74, of Flat Rock, Michigan died on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton, Michigan.
Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Ottawa Hills Cemetery on Monday, August 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The Lambertville VFW Post 9656 will officiate. Burial will be in Ottawa Hills Cemetery Toledo, Ohio.
Born on February 25, 1937 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Oscar and Nell (Sawaya) Draheim.
He attended Toledo Libbey High School graduating in 1955. He then attended U of Toledo until 1960 earning his Bachelor Degree and continued to Eastern Michigan to earn his Master Degree in 1970.
Alan was in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1961 to 1963, he then joined the Air National Guard an obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was Honorably discharged in 1967.
He was an Elementary School Teacher for Flat Rock School District until retiring in 1991.
Alan was a member of the Michigan Educational Association, National Educational Association and the Auto License Plate Collectors Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Draheim.
Surviving are 5 sisters, Elaine (Dean) Street of Toledo, Carol Lillibridge of Toledo, Gayle Draheim of Toledo, Jackie (Bruce) Howden of Fillmore, New York and, Jeri (Steve) Ames of Perrysburg; many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Barnes Elementary School, Flat Rock, MI.
