M. Louise D. Barnett, 81, died Wednesday, June 30, 2009. She was a resident of Indianapolis.
Survivors include her husband, Robert B. Barnett; stepson, Jeffry (Billie) Bailey of Indianapolis; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph F. and Margaret E. Walters Dragoo; and a stepson, Lowell Barnett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday at University Heights United Methodist Church, 4002 Otterbein Ave., Indianapolis. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

M. Louise D. Barnett 81, Indianapolis passed away June 30, 2009. She was born June 12, 1928 in Indianapolis to the late Ralph F. and Margaret E. Walters Dragoo. Louise married Charles F. Bailey and he preceded her in death in 1977. She then married Robert B. Barnett on March 31, 1978 and he survives. She graduated from Southport High School in 1946, received her Bachelors degree from Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis) in 1950, and her Masters degree from Butler University in 1959. She began her teaching career at Edgewood Elementary School in Perry Township and shortly thereafter became an airline stewardess for Lake Central Airlines. A very few years later, she returned to teaching in Warren Township Schools at Woodview Jr. High School where she finished her career as a teacher. She was a great supporter of Indiana Central CollegeU. of I. and its Alumni Association. She was interested in drama as a student as well as after graduation. Louise was a long time member of University Heights United Methodist Church and its Homebuilders Sunday School class. She also was a member of the Propylaeum Club of Indianapolis and served two terms as president and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Louise was great at maintaining contact with her friends, frequently calling on the phone to stay in touch. She loved her cats and enjoyed her flowers and was noted for always wearing a hat when dressed up. She had great compassion and was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Her other survivors include her step-son, Jeffry (wife Billie) Bailey, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Janelle (husband Doug) Bailey-Lombardi, Gareth (wife Christie) Bailey, Samantha Bailey and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by step-son Lowell Barnett. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 6 at University Heights United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 5 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin.
