On Sunday last James Doyle, son of Mrs. Peter Irwin, of Nicasio, was killed by being thrown from a horse. He was riding a race, in which two horses were running, and on each horse were two young men. Doyle's horse stumbled and threw both the lads, Doyle striking on his head. The back of his skull was crushed in, and he died in a few hours.

A sad and fatal accident occurred at Nicasio last Saturday afternoon. Four young men were riding home on horseback, two on each of two horses. They were riding quite rapidly when one of the horses came in violent collision with the other and fell to the ground. One of the riders, James Doyle, who is generally known as James Irwin, struck upon his head and sustained a fracture of the skull, from which he died in three hours.
