SPRINGFIELD - Gail Ellen (Bradshaw) Downey, 64, of Fullerton St., passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Pawtucket, RI, a daughter of the late Russell and Mary (Coffey) Bradshaw, she had lived in North Attleborough, MA prior to moving to Springfield 14 years ago. She was a member of Harvest Bible Chapel in Ludlow, a volunteer at Rebecca Johnson School, served as a Den Leader of Cub Scout Pack 35, and was a member of the Springfield Urban League. Pre-deceased by two brothers, David and Daniel Bradshaw, she is survived by her beloved husband, Patrick P. Downey of Springfield; five children, Allan Bartleson and Melissa Allen, both of NC, Eugene Allen of Bristol, RI, Kenneth Bartelson of ME, and Christine Allen of SC; two sisters, Kathy Choquette of Norton, MA and Stacey Audette of RI; five brothers, Russell, Joseph, Frederick, Kenneth, and Steven Bradshaw; and 8 grandchildren, Jacob, Allen, Austin, Eric, Hanna, Garrett, Malek, and Corry. There will be a visitation from 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Harrell Funeral Home followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
