0RISKANY FALLS - Mrs Ellen Dowd. 63. Rt. 26, died Monday in her home. She was born in Rome daughter of Timothy and Mabel Elford Murphy. She attended schools in Waterville. She married James Dowd in Clinton in 1934.
She had been employed at the Hamilton Hospital until 1974. She was a member and trustee of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Oriskany Falls and its Altar Rosary Society Besides her husband, she leaves seven daughters: Mrs. Leonard DeLoresi Faulkner. Vernon Center; Mrs John (Janet) Anguish Locke; Mrs Thomas (Barbara) Kirley. Oneida; Mrs Lawrence (Maureen) Austin. Virginia Beach. Va ; Mrs. Rodney (Karen) Burnham, Floyd; Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Eastman. Madison, and Mrs. Kevin (Mary Ellen)-Snyder, Augusta; one son, James Dowd of Oriskanv Falls; three brothers, George Murphy and John Murphy, both of Oriskany Falls, and Charles Murphy of Vernon; two sisters, Mrs Hubert (Ruth) Bennett of Delaware: Mrs Seymour (Emma) Nolan, Knoxboro. The funeral will be Friday at 9:15 am from the James W Davis Funeral Home Oriskany Falls, and 9:30 from St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Clinton. Calling hours are 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tomorrow.
