Wasilla resident Sharon D. Buxton, 62, died following a lengthy illness April 23, 1999, at her daughter's Anchorage home. A visitation was held at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel. A second visitation was held followed by a funeral at Wasilla Bible Church. The Rev. Gary L. Kasey officiated. A reception followed the service at the church. Burial wase at Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla. Mike Jackson, Scott Green, Wes Skinner, Jim Caress, Jake MacDonald and Paul Wreyford served as pallbearers.

Mrs. Buxton was born April 17, 1937, in Waverly, Fla., and had attended Lake Wales High School in Lake Wales, Fla. She had been a resident of Alaska since 1966, living in Kodiak from 1966-71 and 1979-81, Adak from 1972-73, Anchorage from 1973-79, Palmer from 1981-86, and Wasilla from 1993 to the present. She worked for Skilling, Ward, Rogers & Barkshire Inc. in Anchorage from 1981 until her retirement in 1985, Alaska Village Electric Cooperative in Anchorage from 1973-79, Civil Service at Kodiak Naval Station from 1968-71, Naval Station Treasure Island California from 1971-72, and Naval Station Adak from 1972-73. She had attended New Salem Baptist Church in Vine Grove, Ky., and was Past Matron of Kodiak Chapter #13 Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed fishing, sewing, crafts, reading and puzzles.

Mrs. Buxton is survived by her husband of 45 years, L.F. ''Buck'' Buxton of Wasilla; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn Phipps of Wasilla, and Geraldine and Dan Bylsma of Anchorage; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Debbie Buxton of Radcliff, Ky.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Bo Combee of Lakeland, Fla., Carol Douthit and Scott Wood of Eagle River, and D'Ann and Werner Mieseler of Germany; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marylou Douthit of Eagle River; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family requests memorial donations be sent to the New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 632 New Salem Church Road, Vine Grove, KY 40175. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary & Crematory.
