MRS. DOUTHIT OF ELKHART DIES AT 90 TUESDAY NIGHT
Mrs. David Douthit, 90, daughter of pioneer Anderson County settlers who played a part in founding the first Protestant church in Texas, died at her home in Elkhart at 11:30 o'clock Tuesday night.
Her parents were among the group led by Daniel Parker from Illinois to East Texas and who established Old Pilgrim Church near Elkhart more that 100 years ago.
The Rev. Weisinger, pastor, will conduct funeral services at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Burial will be in Elkhart cemetery.
Mrs. Douthit is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lula McClung, Elkhart; one granddaughter, Mrs. Wade Lovett, Amarillo; five grandsons, Claude Douthit, Ben Fincher, Boe Fincher, Buck Fincher, all of Elkhart, Jack Fincher, serving with the United State Navy, and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be C. P. McFarlin, J. T. Denson, Thomas Davis, Norman Polk, S. B. Woodard and Ozie Wolf.
