Mabel was born in Anderson Co, TX to Henry Ferdinand and Sarah Louise Winteroth Barthel. Her parents are buried in Garden of Memories. She shares a stone with her husband, Clarence Ephener Douthit, who she married 29 October 1916 in Anderson Co, TX. Their sons, Boyd Link Douthit and Milton Wayne Douthit, are also buried in Garden of Memories. Their son, Melvin Clarence "Red" Douthit, is buried in Roselawn Cemetery.

Services for Mrs. Mabel Douthit, 96, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart.
Mrs. Douthit died today in her home.
She was born Sept. 25, 1892, in Palestine, a daughter of Henry F. Barthel and Sarah Winteroth Barthel. She was a Methodist.
Mrs. Douthit was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Eppner[sic] Douthit on Dec. 22, 1960, and by three sons, Homer Ray Douthit, Milton Warren Douthit and Melvin Clarence "Red" Douthit.
She is survived by two sons, Boyd Link Douthit and Leland Nathan Douthit, both of Palestine; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Condolence calls will be received from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Thomas, Bill Bambeck, Norris Cunningham, Floyd Barthel, Thomas Gause and Gregory Snow.
