Frances "May" Brown, age 85, of Clarinda, Iowa, entered into peace Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Westridge Care & Rehab Center, Clarinda, IA.

Frances May Brown was born October 10, 1927, northwest of Braddyville, Iowa to Elmer Douthit and Mable (Gardner) Douthit.

She grew up in the Braddyville/College Springs area and graduated from Amity High School. She continued her education graduating from AIB Business College in Omaha.

May and James Brown were united in marriage February 22, 1948 at the home of her parents. They were blessed with one son, Ronald.

May and James made their home on a farm in the College Springs area. May enjoyed the farm and especially enjoyed her flowers.

Keeping a journal was part of her daily routine that she enjoyed.

She was a member of the Clarinda Regional Health Center Auxiliary and spent many enjoyable hours doing volunteer work.

May was district representative for the Iowa Hospital Association and traveled all over southwest Iowa making many friends with her travels.

May and James moved to Clarinda in 2002 and she enjoyed playing the piano for the residents of their apartment complex.

May also enjoyed listening to Gospel music. She was a life long member of the College Springs Presbyterian Church.

Family was very important to May and she was very proud of her son, grandson and great grandchildren.

Preceding May in death were her parents; brother, Robert Douthit; daughter-in-law, Lucy Brown and granddaughter-in-law, Sheri Brown.

Survivors include her husband, James Brown of Clarinda, IA; son, Ronald Brown of Boerne, TX; grandson, Mike A. Brown of San Antonio, TX; step great grandchildren, Ben, Katie and Michael; other relatives and friends.

May will be missed her loving husband, family and friends. She will forever be in their hearts. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn her passing.
