Sgt Doulgas, Company D, 8th Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, was wounded in South Korea on July 31, 1950. He returned to duty on August 10, 1950. While fighting as infantry on September 4, 1950, near Kasan S. Korea, Douglas was listed as Missing in Action. On January 22, 1954, his status was changed to presumed Killed in Action Remains Not Recovered. Douglas's name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
