6/3/1909 - Atlanta Constitution - MRS. LULA DOUGLAS FOUND DEAD IN BED - Funeral Services Will Take Place This Afternoon at Residence. - Mrs. Lula Douglas, 28 years of age, of 185 Love Street, wife of R. W. Douglas, a local contractor, was found dead in her bed yesterday morning about 5 o'clock, when the husband went to his wife's door to arouse her from her slumbers. Coroner Donehoo held an inquest in the afternoon, and his jury found a verdict of death from heart failure. The funeral will occur this afternoon at 3 o'clock, and the interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Douglas and her husband slept in adjoining rooms. When he rapped, he got no response, and on investigation, he found his wife dead. Her body was not quite cold. In her arms she clutched her 6 month old baby.

Mrs. Douglas is survived by her husband and her parents, Mr and Mrs J. A. Head, and three children, May, aged 5 years, Willie Evelyn, aged 3 years, 5 months and and Minnie Lee, aged 6 months and by two brothers, Frank, of Decatur and Marion, of Chattanooga, and three sisters, Mrs. C. Raden, of Decatur; Mrs. Minnie Miller, of Chattanooga, and Mrs. Terry Barton, of Chattanooga.

6/4/1909 - Atlanta Constitution - The funeral of Mrs. Lula Douglas, which was to have been held at the residence, 185 Love street, yesterday, was postponed on account of the bad weather, and will take place this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the private chapel of Harry Poole. Interment in Hollywood.
