On August 17, 1946, she married Luther Ray Warren who preceded her in death on May 27, 1986. Surviving are her daughter, Douglas Anne Warren McHargue of Statesville, a grandson, Cameron McHargue and his life partner, Caron Brown of Spindale and a great grandaughter, Avery McHargue of Asheville. Also surviving are her brother, David Edgar Douglas of Statesville, her sister-in-law, Lucille Christopher Warren of Stony Point a number of nieces and nephews of the area and all of her caregivers at Mapleleaf. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Lucy Elizabeth Douglas and Margaret Lorena Douglas Goforth, six brothers, Clyde Edgar Douglas, Charles Perkins Douglas, Russell Avery Douglas, Paul Halyburton Douglas, Roy Hall Douglas and John Halbert Douglas.
Mrs. Warren was a graduate of Scotts High School, Mitchell Junior College and Appalachian State Teachers College (A.S.U.) class of 1940. She was a teacher in the Alexander and Iredell County school systems for 34 years. She was a lifetime member of Midway United Methodist Church and there she served many years as a childrens' Sunday School teacher, church pianist, historian and MYF leader. She was appointed North Carolina Regent for Scottish Clan Douglas Society. She served three terms as Regent for the Fourth Creek Chapter of the Daughters Of The American Revolution and working with the local schools, was chairman of the DAR Good Citizens and Junion American Citizens.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 Monday at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brenda Brashear officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
