DIED In this town, on the night of the 20th of September last. Mr. Richard DOUGLASS, about 70 years of age. Mr. DOUGLASS was a native of Connecticut, and was among the earliest settlers of this county. When he came here the county was an almost unbroken wilderness. By his unduring industry and perseverance, he cleared a large farm and accumulated a large fortune for his family. From the great quantity of grain which he was in the habit of raising, and selling to the early settlers, he received from them the familiar appellation of the "Corn Planter", by which title he became extensively known in this and the adjoining counties – Com.
