Daniel J. "Doc" Dougherty, 64, of Jackson Street, Larksville, passed away Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Kingston on July 28, 1945, he was a son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Lukachik Dougherty.
He was a graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from December 1965 to November 1966. He received the National Defense Service Medal & the Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed as a corrections officer at S.C.I. Retreat, Newport Township, where he retired with the rank of sergeant in 2004.
He was a member and served as president of A.F.S.C.M.E. He was a member of the American Legion Post 655, Larksville, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, Larksville.
He was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan who enjoyed model boat collecting, woodworking, cooking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by infant brothers.
Surviving are his wife, the former Judith Meade Dougherty; daughters, Kimberly Curcio and husband, John, Heather Holdredge and husband, David; son, Sean P. Dougherty and wife, Angela, four grandchildren, Gabriella and Amanda Curcio, Emma and Madison Holdredge; sisters, Patricia Murray, Elizabeth Critides, Nancy Wiederander; brother, Gary Dougherty; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Andrew Strish Funeral Home, 11 Wilson St., Larksville. A Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 in St. John the Baptist Church, Larksville. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Larksville.
