Rosena T. Dostert, 97, Foxholm, died Tuesday, July 28, 1992 in a Minot health care center. Her funeral was held Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in the Church Cemetery both Foxholm.
Celebrant for the service was Father Paul D. Becker. Lector was Jack Pritschet. Marie Hagen Bourquin sang and Patricia Strohm was organist.
Active Casketbearers included Reed Opland, Steven Lesmeister, Joseph Price, Alan Dostert, Michael Opland, and John Schan. Her community of friends, neighbors, her grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, and members of the church served as Honorary Bearers.
The former Rosena T. Schmitz was born on December 6, 1894 near Burlington, a daughter of Bernard and Eleanora (Hoerter) Schmitz. She was reared and educated in the Burlington area, where she attended Graham School in Kirkelie Township, Ward County for eight years. She then attended high school at Velva and returned to Kirkelie Township where she taught school.
On June 4, 1918, at Foxholm, she married Anthony N. Dostert. Following their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in Foxholm Township, Ward County. They continued to farm there until his death on August 20, 1978. In 1980, she lived with her daughters in this area.
Mrs. Dostert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Alter Society of the church, and the Lonetree PTA. She was a resident of the Americana Health Care Center since February 3, 1992.
Survivors: sons, Anthony B., Edwin, and Raymond, all Burlington, Joseph, Minot; daughters, Anna Schan, Couer d'Alene, ID, Bernice Novak, Minot, Catherine Opland, Kent, WA, Irene Dostert and Patricia Lesmeister, both Surrey; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren; brother Pete Schmitz, Seattle, WA; sisters Mary Harmon and Elizabeth Rademacher, both Minot; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Frances Prise, son-in-law, John Schan; her parents, brothers, Peter, Paul, Michael, John, Herman, Nick Joseph and Henry; sisters, Eleanor Tweet and Josephine Rademacher.
Thompson-Larson Funeral Home of Minot handled the service.
