ARMSTRONG, ALICE Y., 21 Feb 1936 of Pelham, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the age of 72. She was the faithful widow of Walter (Bubba) T. Armstrong who passed away in 1993. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved her family. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Alabaster where she worked with the youth, taught Sunday school and coached Upward Basketball and served as choir secretary for many years. She worked at Moore-Handley from 1974 to 2008. She was preceded in death by her parents, Junius and Dollie Doss of Bessemer, three brothers, Jack, Billy, and Eddie Doss and a sister, Barbara Curren. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Armstrong (Janet) of Wilsonville; two daughters, Pam Spaeth (Dennis) of Montgomery and Michelle Lowery (Tommy) of Pelham; nine grandchildren, Zach Armstrong, Josh Martin and Bethany Martin of Wilsonville, Stephen Sims of Montgomery, Brandi Myrick (Richard) of Wetumpka, Stephanie Sides (Edwin) of Wetumpka, Whitney Lowery of Washington, DC, Thomas and Alix Lowery of Pelham; four great-grandchildren, Hope and Boak Sims of Calera, Walt Myrick and Carlee Sides of Wetumpka; two brothers, Sammy Doss (Diane) of Bessemer, Mike Doss (Cindy) of Mobile; three sisters, Peggy Armstrong of Mobile, Patsy Gross of Statesville, NC and Brenda LaRussa (Andy) of Birmingham, and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 2 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
