From the Athens Review Newspaper dated January 11, 1940 --- MRS. I.A. BARTON DIES FRIDAY AT BROWNSBORO
Death Friday morning claimed Mrs. I.A. Barton (Aunt Mollie) Barton, 69, lifelong resident of Brownsboro and a member of one of that community's best know families.
Mrs. Barton died at the family home there at 9 o'clock after a critical illness of three days. She had been stricken with a heart attack on Tuesday night.
Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at the Baptist Church in Brownsboro at 11 o'clock with Rev. Smallwood, Baptist minister in charge.
Internment followed in the Jennings Mountain Cemetery a mile south of Brownsboro.
Deceased is survived by her husband I.A. Barton, Brownsboro's first mayor, and one of that community best loved citizens; two daughters, Mrs. Ione McNeil of Ben Wheeler and Mrs. Lottie Reagan of Trees, Louisiana; four sons, Harvey Barton of Beaumount, and Rube, Horace and John Barton all of Brownsboro.
All were at the bedside when Mrs. Barton died.
