Marcia M. Ballard, 70, of 307 Leadley Avenue, East Peoria, passed away at 11 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Heartland of Peoria.
She was born on December 21, 1940 in Macomb to Clarence and Marjorie Marlow Doran. She married Roger Ballard on August 17, 1968 in Macomb. He survives.
Also surviving are numerous aunts; uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Robert Silberer; one infant son, Roger Alan Ballard in 1970 and one cousin, Michael Marlow.
Marcia lived all of her married life in East Peoria and she was an elementary school teacher for 38 years. She taught one year in Avon and in the East Peoria School District #86 for 37 years before retiring in June of 2000.
She enjoyed reading to children and went to the schools to read even afer her retirement. She also enjoyed traveling to Civil War battlefields.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Reverend Victor Randell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to either Gald Tidings Assembly of God Church in East Peoria, Macomb Assembly of God Church or Alzzheimer's Association.
