Melvin G. Doom, 75, of R.R. 1, Cantrall, died at 11:03 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1911, in Menard County, the son of Elmer and Jessie Sexton Doom. A retired farmer, Mr. Doom retired from the Springfield Mattress Co. in 1976 after 15 years of service.
He married Ina Diehl in St. Louis in 1939. Mr. Doom was a member of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Elmer Doom.
Surviving are his wife, Ina; two sons, Glenn of Cantrall and Kenneth of Springfield; two brothers, W.E. "Bill" Doom of Fancy Prairie and Lyle C. Doom of Lincoln; and two sisters, Mrs. Velda Kerley and Mrs. Wilma Hale, both of Springfield.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Wopperer officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
