Rev. Daniel Phillip Donelson, 87, of Springfield, passed away February 26, 2012, in his home. He was born September 4, 1924 in Mercer County, Missouri to Rev. Roy and Etta Donelson. He was later united in marriage to his wife of 67 years, Helen, and to this union they were blessed with a son, Randy. He was a Minister with Assemblies of God ordained May 3, 1961. He enjoyed southern gospel singing and pastoring his churches in the Iowa and Southern Missouri districts. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in 3rd Division Quartermaster CBI Theater during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, C. Fred and Jim Donelson; a sister Lena Donelson McClarnon; and two nephews, Charles Donelson and L. Max McClarnon.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; a son, Randy and wife Kathy of Springfield, Missouri; a grandson, Joshua D. Donelson; and two nephews, Raymond Donelson and Ken McClarnon both of Mercer County, Missouri; other family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, Missouri. Interment will follow the service in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. Published in the News-Leader on February 28, 2012.
