|Birth: ||Sep. 12, 1920|
|Death: ||Feb. 11, 2009|
Doris Sisson Donahue, of Farnham, began her new journey on February 11, 2009. She was the beloved mother of two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye Burgess Lewis and Evans and Layne Burgess Nash and Donnie, who will forever cherish her memory; a devoted grandmother to Kimberly Lewis Howard and David Glosser, Mark Lewis and wife, Michelle, Robert Nash and wife, Angie; and loving great-grandmother to LaToya and Courtney Howard. All have been shown her tenacity and love as she independently raised her daughters. Many Sundays and holidays around Nana's bountiful table leave fond memories. She was born September 12, 1920 to Annie Connellee and Warren Sisson and was a lifelong active member of Calvary United Methodist Church, where she served many terms as president of the United Methodist Women. Her passion for baking was enjoyed by her friends and neighbors as she shared with them. After retiring from Contel Telephone Co., where she worked for 30 years, she enjoyed traveling and spoiling her grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, S. Atlas Donahue; and sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Paul Marsh; as well as her parents. A service of celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2009 at Calvary United Methodist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the Welch Funeral Home, Marks Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Women, P.O. Box 246, Farnham, Va. 22460.
