Her mother, Blanche Dolan, then moved with Maxine and her sister, Patricia, and her brother, John, to Dallas, TX. Maxine was raised in Dallas and possessed a strong affinity with the South throughout her life. She especially enjoyed yearly trips to Dallas to visit her Mother, whom she dearly loved and greatly admired. At the end of World War II, Maxine met Chief Petty Officer Francis Bahr, and they were married on May 17, 1947. Maxine and Francis relocated to St. Louis, where they spent their lives working and raising their family. Maxine worked as parish secretary at Holy Ghost Church, Berkeley, MO, for 34 years. Maxine lived with heart disease for 29 years, surviving two heart attacks and bypass surgery. Impatient with the limitations heart diseased imposed, Maxine chose to live her life fully, with courage and dignity.
