Mary was the only child of Nicholas Farrow and Ruth Cairnes. She was living with her mother and stepfather, Martin Teasdale, when they joined the LDS Church in 1850. Mary had a beautiful singing voice and often sang for the missionaries in meetings in public buildings, private homes or on street corners in England. She married Charles Wilson in Hazelrigg, Northumberland, England on Feb 9, 1851. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1859 with their three small children, and traveled to Utah as members of the George Rowley Handcart Company. The family settled in Goshen, where Mary's mother was living. Two more children were born and Mary was expecting her sixth child when Charles died on April 11, 1866. She became a plural wife of Thomas Dodds on 29 February 1868 and Mary and Thomas had one child together. She was among the members in Goshen who first organized the Relief Society and Young Women's MIA in 1869. She was an ardent Church worker and held positions in the Relief Society, Sunday School, MIA, Primary and choir. Mary's son, Nicholas Farrow Wilson, wrote a history of his mother and noted that she was exceptionally gifted in 'spiritual things'. Her children were Hyrum Lorenzo, James William, Thomas Wallice, Mary Elizabeth, Charles M. and Nicholas Farrow Wilson; and John Albert Dodds.
