BEECH GROVE, March 22-Funeral services for Mrs. Laura A. Campbell, widow of the late Marcellus Campbell, were conducted from Beech Grove Christian Church, of which she had been a member since childhood, last Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Her pastor, the Rev. J. L. McKinney, of Lynchburg, had charge of the services, assisted by the Rev. J. T. Watson, of Craig County. Interment was in the church cemetery, beside the body of her husband who preceded her to the grave 21 years ago.
The large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends who gathered to pay their last respects to this good woman and the many beautiful floral offerings attested to the love and high esteem in which she was held. A loving mother, a good neighbor, and one who was always willing and glad to help others, she will be sadly missed in this community.
She is survived by the following seven children: Irving Campbell, Berkley Campbell, Mulford Campbell, and Auldman Campbell, all of Beech Grove, Maphis Campbell, of Delaware, Heywood Campbell, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. James R. Leech, of Waynesboro. Surviving also are seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and the following brothers and sisters: Richard Dodd of Afton, P. R. Dodd, of Waynesboro, Ben F. Dodd, of Beech Grove, Mrs. Lula Campbell, of Ellard, Va., Mrs. Lee Fitzgerald, of Lynchburg, Mrs Mildred Coffey, of Alexandria, and Mrs. Ruthie Fields, of Beech Grove.
Active pallbearers were: Clarence Campbell, Judson Phillips, C. L. Thompson, J. T. Quick, L. P. Rodes, Worthy Thompson and B. C. Small.
Honorary pallbearers, who also served as flower bearers were the following: Rev. U. S. Campbell, Harvey Thompson, Herbert Lowe, Jess Hughes, Wm. R. Rodes, Charlie Goodwin, Raymond Hughes, Henry Goodwin, Jack T. Hughes, Willie Fitzgerald, Ed Wilhelm, Berry Fitzgerald, Cosey Fitzgerald, James R. Lowe, Maury Fitzgerald, Howard Foster, Pete Falls, Doskey Fitzgerald, Woodie Dodd, A. G. Small and Dave Grove.
