Mr. James Dodd was born March 8, 1935, to the late, Mr. William and Mrs. Ida Ross Dodd in Attala County, MS.
He departed this life on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at age 80 in Kosciusko, MS.
He confessed to Christ at an early age and joined Plantation Missionary Baptist Church in Ethel, MS. Later, he moved his membership to Traveler's Rest M. B. church in Kosciusko, MS.
He received his education in the Attala County School System.
He was employed with Kosciusko Water Department at the time of his retirement.
James was married to the late, Doris Lee Wright Dodd on May 7, 1956. To this union, five children were born, Sherry A. Dodd, Kosciusko, MS; James Aaron Dodd, Jackson, MS; who both preceded him in death; Doris D. Coffee and Martin A. (Mary) Dodd both of Kosciusko, MS; Dolphus A. Dodd, Jackson, MS; Max (Shirley) Dodd, Anniston, AL; Sandra Harmon, Sharon (Curt) Miller and Debbie Dawson all of Kosciusko, MS.
He shared his childhood with three brothers, Percy Wright and Albert Dodd, Jr., who both preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories his brother, William Dodd, Jr.; three sisters, Mary Jane Greer, St. Paul, MN; Hessie Brooks, Memphis, TN; who preceded him in death and Sophie Dodd, Detroit, MI; who he also leaves to cherish his memories.
Also, to cherish his memories he leaves, Debra A. (James A.) Dodd; daughter-in-law, Jackson, MS; Mary (Clyde) Thornton and Georgia Brown; sisters-in-law, Kosciusko, MS; 22 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and close friends.
