Alvin "Doc" Doctor, 78, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Skagit valley Hospital after a long battle with heart and lung disease.

He was born on April 11, 1930 in Gem, Kansas. His grandma told him that "A crow s*#@ on a rock and the sun hatched you." He loved to remind everyone of this.

Doc survived a difficult childhood with the love of his brothers and grandparents. He also had several debilitating accidents throughout his life that he accepted with good humor and heart.

In 1957 he married the love of his life, Phyllis, and this year they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Doc loved to hunt, fish, camp, teach his sons-in-law and grandsons the "right way" to barbecue salmon, mow the lawn and just sit by the fire. Most of all he loved to spend time with family and friends telling them "just one more time" of his life's stories.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children and their spouses, Terril & Tom Moore, Lindy Doctor, Teresa & John Keene and Bill Doctor. Also surviving their loving "Papa" are his favorite grandsons, Joey and wife Erica, Josh, Jehra, Alex, Jay & Friend L. Doctor; his favorite granddaughters and their husbands, Angela & Eric and Anna & Todd; his favorite great-grandchildren, Morgan, Hunter, Harly, Erica, Bailey and Randall; two brothers, Ken Doctor and Vernon Doctor and his wife, Dixie; a favorite uncle, Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Delfred; a son, Frank; special nephew, Kenny and dear family friend, Charlie, with whom he had many spirited arguments.

To many people who called him friend, thanks for your calls, visits and good cheer over the years. He cherished you. Private family services will be held at a later date.
