Janie Evelynn Armstrong
Janie Evelynn Armstrong, 73, of Tyler, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in Tyler.
She was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Pine Bluff, Ark., the daughter of Cabert and Willie McAllister Dobbins.
Mrs. Armstrong was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School.
She briefly worked for Arkansas Power and Light before marrying Worth LaRue Arm-strong in 1961.
Mrs. Armstrong moved with her new husband to Orange. She became a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of Orange.
In the late 1970s, Mrs. Armstrong moved to Tyler where she became a member of First Baptist Church of Tyler. She worked for the Tyler Independent School District as an aide for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two brothers, James Thomas "Buddy" Dobbins and Cabert Dobbins Jr.; and sister, Dottie Duke.
Survivors include three sons, Lee Armstrong of Dallas, Clay Armstrong of Dallas and Rich-mond Armstrong of Houston; brother, Charles Dobbins of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two grandchildren, Anna Armstrong and Charles Armstrong; and numerous niec-es and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff with the Rev. Harold Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robinson's.
